Larazotide

Larazotide is a synthetic octapeptide and a zonulin antagonist that protects intestinal epithelial tight junctions by blocking zonulin receptors, preventing gluten-induced intestinal permeability increase (“leaky gut”). As the only late-stage oral peptide therapeutic in clinical development, Larazotide is primarily targeted at Celiac Disease — an autoimmune intestinal disorder triggered by gluten with a global prevalence of approximately 1%.
