Setmelanotide
Selective MC4R agonist for rare genetic obesity disorders. Precision medicine peptide targeting melanocortin pathway mutations in leptin-melanocortin signaling deficiencies.
Setmelanotide is a potent and selective melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) agonist, an 8-amino acid cyclic peptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It is the first FDA-approved therapy for chronic weight management in patients with rare genetic disorders of obesity, including pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 (PCSK1), and leptin receptor (LEPR) deficiencies.
